রাজধানী ঢাকা হতে প্রায় ২২০ কিলোমিটার দূরে এ লক্ষীপুর জেলা। জেলার আয়তন প্রায় ১৫৫৬ বর্গকিলোমিটার। দালাল বাজারের জমিদার লক্ষীনারায়ণের নামে এ জেলার নামকরণ। উত্তরে চাঁদপুর, পূর্বে নোয়াখালী, দক্ষিণে ভোলা ও নোয়াখালী এবং পশ্চিমে বরিশাল ও ভোলা জেলা। মেঘনা, ডাকাতিয়া কাটাখালী, রহমতখালী, ভুলুয়া জেলার প্রধান নদী। জেলার উপজেলাগুলো হলঃ লক্ষীপূর সদর, রায়পুর রামগঞ্জ ও রামগতি।

Laxmipur district is about 220 km away from the capital Dhaka. The area of the district is about 1556 sq km. The district was named after Laxminarayan, the zamindar of Dalal Bazar. Chandpur in the north, Noakhali in the east, Bhola and Noakhali in the south and Barisal and Bhola districts in the west. Meghna, Dakatiya Katakhali, Rahmatkhali, the main rivers of Bhulua district. The upazilas of the district are Laxmipur Sadar, Raipur Ramganj and Ramgati.
