রাজধানী থেকে প্রায় ১৪৫ কিলোমিটার দূরে কুমার নদের তীরে ফরিদপুর জেলা অবস্থিত্। এর উত্তরে রাজবাড়ী ও মানিকগঞ্জ জেলা, দক্ষিনে গোপালগঞ্জ, পূর্বে ঢাকা, মুন্সীগঞ্জ ও মাদারীপুর, এবং পশ্চিমে নড়াইল, মাগুরা ও রাজবাড়ী জেলা। পদ্মা, পুরাতন কুমার, আড়িয়াল খাঁ, গড়াই, চন্দনা, ভুবনেশ্বর, লোহারটেক জেলার প্রধান নদী। প্রায় ২০৭২ বর্গ কিলোমিটার আয়তনের এই জেলার উপজেলা গুলো হল -ফরিদপুর সদর, বোয়ালমারী, আলফাডাঙ্গা, মধুখালী, ভাঙ্গা, নগরকান্দা, চরভদ্রাসন ও সদরপুর।

Faridpur district is located on the banks of the river Kumar, about 145 km from the capital. It is bounded on the north by Rajbari and Manikganj districts, on the south by Gopalganj, on the east by Dhaka, Munshiganj and Madaripur, and on the west by Narail, Magura and Rajbari districts. Padma, Puratan Kumar, Arial Khan, Gorai, Chandana, Bhubaneswar, Lohartek are the main rivers of the district. The upazilas of this district with an area of about 2062 sq km are Faridpur Sadar, Boalmari, Alfadanga, Madhukhali, Bhanga, Nagarkanda, Charbhadrasan and Sadarpur.
