Indrakpur Fort

 

This fort is located at Indrakpur in Munshiganj city. The Mughal subaddar Mir Jumla built the fort at Indrakpur in 160 AD on the banks of the river Puranoichamati in the present district headquarters.

Baba Adam Shaheed Mosque
 

Baba Adam Shaheed Mosque is located in Kazi Kasba village of Rikabi Bazar union in Rampal district. According to the inscription on the main entrance, Malik Kafur built the mosque in 1463 during the reign of Sultan Fateh Shar. The length and width of the exterior of the mosque are 10.35 and 3.75 meters respectively. Its walls are about 2 meters thick. The tomb of the preacher Baba Adam is next to the six-domed mosque in two rows above the mosque. It is said that during the reign of Ballal Sen, Baba Adam came to this region for the purpose of propagating Islam. It is said that Baba Adam was killed on the orders of Ballal Sen.

 
 

Home of Buddhist scholar Atish Dipankar Srigyan in Sompara of Bajrayogini Union of Sadar Upazila. He was born here in 972 AD. In 1041, at the invitation of the king of Tibet, he crossed the remote Himalayas and entered the kingdom. Dipankar, a great scholar of Buddhism, was given the honorary title of Atish in Tibet for composing books in the Tibetan language. At present there is a monument in Thai architecture at Vajrayogini. Buddhist tourists and benefactors from many countries, including Japan, visit here.

Sonarang Joramath

 

There are two monasteries located in Sonarang village of Tongibari upazila. The big one is dedicated to Shiva and the small one is dedicated to Kali. The Shiva temple was built in 1843 and the Kali temple in 18. It is known that the creator of a merchant named Rupchandra.

Ballalbari

Prasad of Raja Ballal Sen located on the north side of Rampal Dighi. The palace is now in ruins, although there are signs of an adjoining moat.

Mir Kadimpul

A few kilometers northwest of Munshiganj town is the Mughal period bridge over the Mirkadim canal. It has been reformed several times and what is often done in this country is that no attempt has been made to preserve its original form during the reformation. Due to that, it is almost impossible to understand its original appearance. The construction date of the 52.42 meter long bridge made of limestone is not known.


Monastery of Shyam Siddh

The monastery is located at Shyamsiddhi village, west of Srinagar Bazar in Srinagar upazila of the district. It was built in 1836 by Jain Jain Shumbhanath Majumdar according to the plaque on the south entrance of the monastery. The brick monastery is 6 meters long and about 20 meters high.
