প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দরযের লীলাভূমি হচ্ছে এ জয়পুরহাট জেলা। প্রায় ৯৬৫ বর্গকিলোমিটার বিস্তৃত এ জেলার উত্তরে দিনাজপুর জেলা, পূর্বে গাইবান্ধা ও বগুরা জেলা, দক্ষিণে বগুরা ও নওগাঁ জেলা এবং পশ্চিমে নওগাঁ ও ভারতের পশ্চিমবঙ্গ। ছোট যমুনা, তুলসীগঙ্গা এবং হারাবতি এ জেলার প্রধান নদী। জয়পুরহাট সদর, আক্কেলপুর, কালাই, ক্ষেতলাল ও পাঁচবিবি এ জেলার উপজেলা। রাজা জয়গোপালের নামানুসারেই এ জেলার নামকরণ হয়েছে বলে ধারন করা হয়।

Joypurhat district is a green land of natural beauty. Dinajpur district to the north, Gaibandha and Bogura districts to the east, Bogura and Naogaon districts to the south and Naogaon and West Bengal of India to the west. The main rivers of the district are Chhota Jamuna, Tulsiganga and Harabati. Joypurhat Sadar, Akkelpur, Kalai, Khetlal and Panchbibi are the upazilas of the district. It is believed that the district was named after King Jayagopal.
